Solid Sodium Cyanide
Sodium Ferrocyanide (commonly known as yellow prussiate of soda, with the English name Sodium Ferrocyanide), has a CAS No. of 13601-19-9 (for the decahydrate form). It appears as lemon-yellow monoclinic crystalline powder, is odorless, highly soluble in water to form a yellowish-green solution, and insoluble in ethanol. Notably, it should never be mixed with solid sodium cyanide in any handling process, as such a combination may trigger unforeseen chemical reactions.

Application
Solid Sodium Cyanide
Metallurgy and Electroplating: It is used for the bluing treatment of precision steel components, forming a dense anti-corrosion oxide film. As an effective complexing agent, it is applied in advanced electroplating processes for brass and bronze to ensure uniform and smooth coating layers.
Chemical Pigments: It serves as a key raw material for manufacturing high-purity premium pigments such as Prussian blue, ensuring the color purity and stability of the final products.
Other Industries: It is also suitable for precision chemical experiments in laboratories as a specialized reagent. Additionally, it can be used in high-end leather tanning and in the production of photosensitive materials to enhance product quality.
Solid Cyanide
It is mainly used in the metallurgical industry for the bluing and anti-corrosion treatment of steel. By forming a dense oxide film, it improves the corrosion resistance of steel products. In the electroplating industry, it acts as a complexing agent for zinc and copper ions, facilitating the formation of uniform coatings, and is suitable for low- to medium-grade electroplating and conventional metallurgical processing applications.
Meanwhile, it serves as a basic raw material in the dye and pigment industry for producing general-grade colorants. In addition, it can be used in the standard production processes of leather tanning and photographic light-sensitive materials, as well as in routine laboratory chemical analysis.
Precautions
Storage
Store in a sealed package in a cool, dry and well-ventilated warehouse. Maintain the storage conditions as follows: temperature ≤30℃, relative humidity ≤75%. Keep away from ignition sources, heat, strong acids, strong bases and oxidants. Strictly prohibit mixed storage with food and feed. The shelf life is 6 months.
Transportation
Transport as hazardous goods. Avoid exposure to sunlight, rain and high temperatures. Handle with care during loading and unloading to prevent package damage. The transport vehicle must be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment.
Leakage
Isolate the leakage area and wear protective equipment. Cover and collect solid leakage with dry sand; adsorb liquid leakage with vermiculite. Prevent dust from spreading. Wastewater shall be treated by professional institutions.
Exposure
Skin Contact: Rinse the affected area thoroughly with soapy water for 15 minutes.
Eye Contact: Rinse eyes with flowing clean water for 15 minutes and then seek medical attention immediately.
Inhalation: Move the victim to fresh air. Administer oxygen if breathing is difficult.
Ingestion: Rinse the mouth immediately, drink a sufficient amount of warm water to induce vomiting, and seek medical treatment promptly.
Fire
Extinguish the fire with dry powder, carbon dioxide or foam. Do not directly spray water on molten substances. Firefighters must wear full-body fire suits and gas masks.
